An activist network aimed to visualize counter‑mapping data about border violence and pushbacks.
They needed an interactive illustrated map with pop‑ups to educate journalists, researchers, and the public.
Balancing detailed geographic representation with anonymization, and optimizing performance for interactive elements.
Figma, Next.js, CSS, JavaScript, Adobe Illustrator.
An NGO approached us to visualize the volatile situation at the border. We listened as they outlined data sources, desired features, and user journeys.
We drafted an illustrated map concept in Adobe Illustrator, added interactive pop‑ups, and outlined user flows for easy discovery.
Using Next.js, CSS, and JavaScript, we developed a fast, accessible site. Every popup reveals vital stats or testimonies, keeping visitors informed.
We configured deployment pipelines and arranged quarterly check‑ins to keep data fresh and features up to date. The map is now a go‑to resource for journalists, researchers, and activists worldwide.
Digiteria transformed my initial idea and a very rough sketch into a beautiful, interactive website. The team approached the project with great passion and dedication. Sanjar Hoshimi, with whom I was in direct contact, did an excellent job assembling the right group for the project. Everyone involved was open to collaboration, attentive to our feedback and needs, and patiently explained the available technical solutions within the constraints of our set budget.
The team showed remarkable sensitivity to the difficult topic we were addressing, carefully adapting the form and visual aspects of the website to match its content.
I highly recommend Digiteria for your web projects, especially those with a social impact.
